The name comes from the French "Atmosphères Explosibles". The certificate specifies, among other things, the type of explosion protection, the explosive group, and the temperature class.

ATEX Zones:
The classification of ATEX zones determines the likelihood of an explosive atmosphere occurring and is crucial for selecting appropriate equipment.

Zone 1
Characteristics: An area where an explosive atmosphere (a mixture of air with flammable gases, vapours, or mists) may occur occasionally during normal operation.
Required Equipment: Devices intended for use in Zone 1 must provide a high level of protection and be designed so that even in the event of rare malfunctions, they do not become a source of ignition.

Zone 2

Inside, there are eight collaborating cores, enabling more efficient processing of multiple tasks simultaneously.
